This is not metal for the price as I expected. My wife doesn't like that the extra leg lift isn't as black like in the stands. She thinks the clear plastic makes it cheap. It's very durable, even for my wife's big monitor. The USB hub works with no problems and my wife can even charge her iPhone with USB 3.0. Although I don't knows why most ports aren't version 3.0 or higher USB 2.0 is so old fashioned to get to a desktop computer that's actually on a table or a laptop on a table if you have a computer on the floor or on the side of a table, just forget it I don't know if a USB extension cable will work or not, but it might. GENERAL: Solid monitor stand Old USB technology and bad cables el limit the possibilities.
