Looks like a good cable with good hooks. The 5/16 cable is designed for heavier loads, and the gauge of the cable depends on the tension in a straight line, so without the thimble (the little metal guide that protects the cable as it's passed through the hook's eyelet) . buckle and lose strength. The cable technically shouldn't bend or go through a pulley (pulley) that's less than 10 times its diameter. With some effort I managed to insert the thimble into the loop. So I saved it, cut off one end and tightened. my pontoon trailer.
