Review on Enhance Your Wii Gaming Experience with Nyko Charge Base IC for Wii by Susan Cox

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well but has some issues

Nyko Dual Wii Remote Charger (induction model) works as advertised. Chargers in a decent amount of time, although I didn't put a Wii remote on it, which was completely dead. A cool blue light illuminates while charging and turns green when charging is complete. On the back of this device is a powered USB port for charging/powering anything via a USB connection. There are some USB powered sensor bars where this can be useful. Cons: Doesn't charge the Wii Remote when wearing a black jacket. I thought I was crazy until I saw that others here had the same black jacket issue. Obviously the black shells are a bit thicker and don't allow the induction process to work properly. Take out the remote control and it will charge normally. A workaround was posted where a person cut a small 1/8" hole in the back of a black jacket right where the induction magnet is. After that it got stuck and charged normally (I'll try it myself soon). I also have an aftermarket orange color. and a blue jacket which I haven't tested on this charger yet to see if they charge. Another downside is the extra batteries. I have 4 Wii remotes for when friends drop by so I have two packs of Nyko Wii- Bought batteries because I thought they would work with this charger. They don't. Obviously the point of contact of the inductive magnet is not in the same place. The Wii Remote does not stick OR does not activate the charger when the jacket is on/off and right side up/upside down. I couldn't find any suitable batteries for this device, I asked at Best Buy and the seller looked at me like I was speaking Greek to him.
