Review on πŸ”₯ Empava 30-Inch Gas Cooktop Stove, LPG/NG Convertible with 5 Italy SABAF Burners in Stainless Steel, Black Finish by Ben Swett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good value on glass hob

This replaces our 12 year old Maytag gas hob. It's difficult these days to find an attractive black glass cooktop for less than $1,000, and then one that can drop into an existing hole or run on propane gas. And this unit has 5 burners where our old one only had 4, including a powerful burner for boiling water quickly. The device looks pretty good, but only time will tell how well it will perform. The user manual needs an update, so I'm not giving it a 5-star rating. There is a package of clamps but no instructions for use. They are designed to stick to the underside of the worktop to prevent the hob from moving. Very similar to a clam. There are several holes on the bottom of the device, but there's no clear indication of where to insert the clips. There are more holes than clamps. Second, these holes are unthreaded. The kit includes self-tapping screws. I highly recommend laying the hob upside down on the included styrofoam insert (to protect the burners). BEFORE mounting the device, install screws in ALL external holes that they might fit. Attempting to drill these holes while the hob is on the table will be difficult. Once the meter is installed, you can choose which openings are best for your installation. You may not need all four clamps. The device comes with a gas regulator. If you choose not to use a regulator, various other nozzles and fittings are included to accommodate either natural gas or propane as long as your pressure is normal and stable. Using a regulator is always a good idea. If you use a regulator, only a simple adjustment for NG or LP is required, and the rest of the parts are not needed.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Not the best
