Exactly what I needed!

My search for this product began with a search for a table spirit stove. I needed a small heat source for my lab. I had a burner, but I needed an open flame source, not as powerful as my Bunsen burner. When I looked around for spirit lamps I quickly found that any decent lamp with an adjustable handle + the cost of replacement wicks would cost less. cost me as much as any butane lamp, and I was damn sure I wouldn't pay $25 for a cheap spirit lamp. Are they no longer used in small experiments? To me, a spirit lamp is useless if I can't control the wick with the handle. But I digress. I went looking for a special butane lab lamp that I could place directly under the bottle and adjust the intensity of the flame. Now that I was on a tight budget, I couldn't find anything under $50 that suited my needs. Why pay more at all? These are simple devices that dispense butane at a 90 degree angle. Then I went in search of butane gas burners used to make fondue. I actually wanted to buy one of these as it was essentially the same type of burner used to heat the lab, only it was packaged as a fondue burner. Understand yourself. Just before I gave up and wanted to spend about $50 on a fondue burner, I stumbled across this little guy. It was way cheaper and it did the same job. The only thing that bothers me is that it's fixed at a 60 degree angle, but it still heats the bottom of my small bottles. I have a better still now, but I only use this burner for heating test tubes and melting flint glass to make pipettes etc. All in all a great, great benchtop burner for small jobs that require a strong but concentrated flame. It is adjustable and runs over 2 hours. Again, my only concern is that it's at a fixed angle, but that angle makes it useful for other workbench purposes.
