For Thanksgiving my mother-in-law had to borrow one of these nifty tools to bake delicious apple pie. To be honest I didn't even know such a thing existed but when I saw it and how well it worked I had to order it. It's a gift for my mother-in-law so she'll never have to borrow it again. It is heavy duty and has a large suction cup on the bottom so it can stick to the countertop while peeling and coring the apple. I chose this one because it's metallic. It is very easy to set up and use. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure you can use it to make french fries too. The only difference is that you will use potatoes! I'll have to try it after the holidays. I know that my mother-in-law will be very happy to receive such a gift. If you are looking for an apple corer or peeler, look no further!
