Pretty but slow and not for beginners

Pattern not for beginners but very pretty! Be REALLY careful with the seam allowances, trim the corners and smooth the seams and it should all come together nicely. I tried to speed up the process by pressing sideways and had to redo some shaky blocks. ;<(! I just knitted the "queen size" version and got a lot of positive feedback on it. I made 2" black bindings on the even sides which, like me and most of my quilting friends, figured that made it more balanced and also almost square. With a full 42" usable fabric width, or with a full 21" usable thick quarters, I can get enough pieces for 4 blocks from a 3.5" WOF strip, or 7" each got a thick quarter with very little waste I could also do all four blocks a little differently Making four blocks at once took about 2 hours for the group not counting the black bands I did all at once so it's a real time investment Substituting one fabric in the second set, these blocks are all different from the first set After making two "sets" of each color, I have a quilt with 42 unique blocks and 14 "extra" blocks , which are either 1/3 dav can be on The New Queen, or most of the cast. .

Pros
  • Designed by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts
Cons
