I keep hitting 3 repeaters that are 18, 21 and 23 miles away. Sitting on the sofa in the living room. If I walk outside about 30 feet from the obstacle at home, I can hit a repeater that is 38 miles away. If you carry your radio on your side, this is the antenna you need. It's only 1/4" longer than the stock antenna, perfect for the UV-5R, and it's all you really need. Don't waste your money on fake Nagoyas. too long to fit on a HT portable radio from to be of practical use.
