Decent monitor, poor side panel lighting

Not a bad monitor and I like to use it for different purposes. First time I have to turn the brightness down at night, but during the day it's decent. My biggest problem is light bleeding. It's edge-lit, so black screens and dark areas of games look pretty bad - almost like a flashlight beam falling from either side of the monitor. It's not critical, and I'd post pictures if I wasn't too lazy, but it's definitely noticeable. Another big problem is the random but rare vertical lines that appear from time to time. I suspect the pixels are just not initializing properly, but there are times when I turn on the monitor and the screen is just filled with random vertical lines and clutter, rendering it unusable. The solution for me was to turn off the monitor for a while. and try again to prevent line burn-in. This is something I would seriously consider buying this monitor.
