As the functionality seems pretty good, better than the previous version, I'll get back to you tomorrow after a lot of installation work and report how it went compared to the standard top finder. The first thing that struck me about this product is its poor ergonomics, scanning is uncomfortable, your hand covers the phone to scan or you have to hold the phone very low making it difficult to hold. It's even worse in pan mode because you have to hold down the button to start scanning (odd choice). If you install it evenly, it also covers the power button on the back if you have an LG and a camera (not a big deal), but having to remove it just to turn off your phone or lock your phone is inconvenient . I partially solved this issue by mounting the phone higher on the device, but it doesn't seem as secure and the swivel button is still a royal pain to hold down. Why the hell did they do that? The phone attaches to the device with a double-sided sticky gel pad, it works well but when you pull them apart the pad tends to fall off. on the floor and dirt anything that comes into contact with it, this is more of a nuisance than a defect because the cushion can be washed. I wish they would make the side of the Walabot permanent so only the side of the phone falls off. I had 1+1/2" drywall in my apartment, a regular stud finder didn't work as well as this one even in deep mode. Cons I am changing this to a star almost entirely due to the ergonomics which is a terrible mounting system, it is very annoying when used more than looking for a stud I had a job with 15 mounts (2 TVs, 7 paintings, 5 shelves, 1 bathroom towel rail) and only used it when the standard spikefinder failed (which just once was), it's too annoying to use, almost dropped all the time 2) The backing doesn't work well on textured drywall, it "bounces" and tends to "jump" off the wall, causing a re Requires scan, and makes a horrible noise when scratched.I understand they want the sensor as close to the wall as possible but they need to fix that.It doesn't hurt but when customers are around does there is an awful noise on anything but really smooth walls. 3) They have a center mark when finding the center of the post but it is tiny and difficult to mark with the stud, it doesn't seem as accurate as the newer multi center stud finders. 5) It's not that good at finding high voltage lines, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, my default stud finder always works. I keep it to myself just to impress my tech-savvy clients and then put it away for real work or only use it when a spike finder can't find anything. many cons for anything but everyday use. If they could solve the above problems, this would easily be a five star product.
