Slightly Modified Stable Tripod

The legs seem to be quite efficient and so far I haven't felt any problems with them. Personally, it annoys me that I'll probably never be able to straighten them again, but that's a superficial compromise I made when buying a tripod with legs that wrap around poles and other vertical objects. . When I wrapped it around the rather small poles it felt very strong and of course it stands perfectly upright. However, the clip mechanism could be improved. First, I'm not a supporter of the fact that the vertical mounting screw is easily detached from the base. There are two knobs, one on each side, that loosen the mounting screw and whatever is on the other end. You have to be completely sure you've fully inserted it to know your phone is secure. If you didn't hear a click, the phone or camera could fall out without much effort. When properly snapped in, it's pretty secure, but there's a bit of uncertainty. It would be best if it was just a one-off. My other complaints are rather minor. The back of the phone clip has a nice foam backing, but the top and bottom jaws are hard plastic with teeth. Having foam on the top and bottom jaws would make me feel a little better not scratching my phone, and it's a firm enough grip that they shouldn't affect the stability of the phone in the mount. I'll probably find some foam and put it in there to see how it feels in the near future. Speaking of stability, the hole used to mount the phone clip vertically (there is a hole on the back to also put your phone face up) is too shallow which means there is no room for the phone clip is to wobble. It is securely fastened so it will not fall, but wobbling is undesirable. I would recommend finding a washer or two and putting them on the screw between the base and the phone mount. Eliminating this gap with shims will solve this problem, but for starters it should simply be drilled to the desired depth. Just make sure you leave enough screws over the washers to properly attach the phone. The other hole (for mounting the phone on top) is drilled to the correct depth and I see no reason why it shouldn't.
