We have a sailboat with a 100 gallon tank, the quality of the water we pump out is as good as what we put in it. Since we are planning a longer trip, we have decided to create a reserve of clean drinking water in case the main tank is poorly filled. I'm buying this water storage tank because it fits one of our existing storage locations and I can hook it up to a gallon sink with a new service line and hand pump. I didn't have a chance to install it until a few weeks ago and I'm not going back. Connecting the tank to the supply line was easy, designing the inflation system required a lot more effort - why not set up inflation via a standard white RV hose? Adjusted to OK after a good spring water rinse and filled with about ten gallons of spring water - made morning coffee for a couple of weeks. I accidentally drank from a clear glass yesterday. Noticed a white, almost translucent, flat grid of impurities floating in the glass. There is a thin layer of something growing, forming, or otherwise peeling off the tank material. I wouldn't recommend it for drinking water storage.
