Small was much too big

The dress is very pretty and looks like the picture, but I ordered the smallest size (small) and it was still much too big! Felt like I was swimming in it! I am 5'2" and 112 lbs. I am going to try to get it altered to make it much narrower and if not I will be returning it. I look like I'm playing dress up it's so wide! I was shocked other reviewers said it was too small because mine for sure was huge!
