I bought this Japanese beauty pad hoping to smooth out rough skin on my elbows, knees and feet and exfoliate the rest of my skin. As promised, the fabric is much larger than a regular washcloth and had more than enough room to wipe my back by holding it in each hand and pulling in all directions. The material itself matches the color and resembles a softer version of a kitchen scraper. It is moderately abrasive and very effective at removing dead skin, especially on the hands and feet. Be careful though; If you make the same mistake I did and rub too hard, you might feel windblown. Strong but gentle pressure should be all you need to get the results you want. The product description says it thickens the suds and increases the amount, and I'll be honest: I really didn't think this thing would hold soap well in everything. I like to use liquid shower gel, so I squeezed a quarter of it onto a towel and started lathering it up. At first it seemed like the soap didn't foam at all. But don't despair! After a few moments the lather got really rich and creamy and I was able to thoroughly wash my whole body with excess lather. The description also warns against holding the rag under a direct jet of water, as the suds will wash off fairly quickly. In fact, the fabric was completely rinsed out even after a few seconds under the shower head. The material is clean, drying and appears to be ready for some time.
