I bought the unit knowing the handle and door could be a problem based on the review and the answers to my question. There were enough positive reviews for me to try it. Overall: This is a good little carrier, but definitely a lot of plastic. There's no real hardware there other than a powder-coated wire door and top grille, leaving plenty of room for weak points. It is better to immediately collect and try. It's great for a lightweight animal. Door: Fits into a hard plastic latch that rotates to open and close. Mine seems to be working fine. Top: Slip-on style, secured with hard plastic so you can open and close. Mine seems safe. Handle: Fits into a hard plastic lock that attaches to the top wires. One side of me doesn't fit or doesn't hold up. I still gave it 4 stars because overall it's good and the customer support was responsive. I asked for a new handle + lock to see if I could use this for my pet. They responded to my email within 24 hours and posted the part. I'll try to think of the update but I suspect you'll be fine with a replacement part and support help. I gave it a low reliability rating until I can see it working.
