Review on 🧼 Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In Waterproofing Solution by Katie Alvarado

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The best of the "green " options, but still very boring.

I am using this product to try and recoat a pair of Orvis Silversonic waders and a Sims G3 wading jacket that both got wet. surface tissue. Both products have been thoroughly hand washed and then rinsed with TX detergent and then treated as directed with dwr TX direct which was allowed to dry for at least 48 hours before entering the water. At first the results seemed great but unfortunately they only lasted about half an hour and then everything was back to how it was before, maybe not that bad but definitely not how it should be. It pisses me off that all these corporations are accusing us of stumbling upon DWR and telling ourselves how bad dwr is for the environment and that we can't and shouldn't use it, it's nowhere to buy and yet they know it is is so irreplaceable you still use it and yet you don't get your code updated properly so you are forced to use a low quality green alternative which I think is just a confusing hassle to try and use every time you if dwr fails to get people to buy new hardware it's not a sustainable or as they would say green alternative. Rather than just improving one process, we should have the total carbon footprint of the manufacturing process of a new wader and wading jacket plus the carbon footprint of shipping. from China to the United States, where every pair of waders is made, whether your company is based in Bellevue, Washington or Bozeman, Montana (you fool no one). but the manufacturers' refusal to sell you the actual product you use is absolutely not the green alternative they claim, unless by green you mean money or stuffing your wallet by dumping pairs of perfect waders that just get wet and dress Don't breathe that brutal, truly corporate greed disguised as a green welcome to USA 2021

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
