Better than most similar products but not a permanent solution

Resume: - Former full-time Autodetler. Currently working seasonally, part-time. Pros: The product's creamy consistency makes it much easier to use than similar products such as Mothers 06108 Back-To-Black - 8 oz - Water resistance is very good. It doesn't flow like many products. - The feeling of fat is minimal. Many products leave a very greasy feeling when touched. This can be particularly annoying on doorknobs. nice smell Cons: Like all other similar products, this is a temporary solution to the problem of faded plastic and rubber. Under the influence of the weather (sun, rain, etc.), the applied surface gets its faded appearance over time. Very faded finishes may require multiple coats to achieve the desired look. Many products can be used on a faded bumper without any problems (e.g. Nissan Xterra). There may be stains on it. It's fairly easy to tell where one product has been applied more than others. This may be due to the surface texture fading to different levels or being applied unevenly. In my case it was faded to varying degrees on a large bumper. Application of product to glass and freshly washed/waxed surfaces is obvious and can be painful to go back and wash off. Tips: - Put on a rubber glove and use a small foam wax applicator. This way you minimize product waste. Cotton applicators soak up quite a bit of product, which equates to waste. Personally, I do not use this product on rubber trim (around windows, windshield, etc.). I treat the rubber trim the same as paint and the rubber trim on my cars still looks almost new - shiny and black - after over 5 years of outdoor parking and daily driving. Thoroughly clean the rubber lining until minimal black deposits are removed. This will remove the wear rubber until a hard rubber is achieved. Then apply a coat of synthetic wax to seal and protect. If necessary/desired, apply a second coat. After waxing you can apply Detailing Spray for a smooth, shiny and protected finish. Verdict: - For what it is - intermittent, occasional use - this is a good product hence 4 stars. - Neat product. But as mentioned above, don't expect this to be a long-term solution. The best option would be products like the Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit. It takes a little more time and effort, but the results last for years, not weeks.

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Long wait
