Review on BenQ ScreenBar Auto Dimming Adjustment ScreenBar_Black by Rick Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bonus! Buy once, for life.

For the past few years I've been wondering how I can evenly distribute light across my small workspace without mounting the fixture directly on the wall. Corner lights aren't enough, they light up the whole room and leave my workspace blurry. I then found BenQ's screen light after seeing a review of their e-reader, which I might also buy in the near future. After seeing all the positive reviews on YouTube, I moved on and went broke. I went for the dial version of BenQ, set it up in less than a minute and it's absolutely perfect. Not only does it feel great, the functionality is top notch - the ambient light sensor gives me a bright white light that resonates with my white desk with no glare. The dial of the Plus version feels solid. There are 2 buttons on it, one for the ambient light sensor and another button to toggle between a) light brightness, b) light color that work with a rotary knob to adjust. Pressing the button turns the light on/off. I'd call adjusting the light a hassle without a dial, so I'd recommend spending the extra $30 on it. Didn't realize the Plus version doesn't have buttons on top, everything is from the dial. I think it's expensive? Yes, and even now I feel a little guilty. However, I can find value in its premium build and functionality and I know this purchase will last a very, very long time. I can't think of absolutely anything that would make this light any better when you have the "Plus" version which comes with a light controller that allows me to make quick adjustments without clicking on the light itself (about what some reviewers have complained). The BenQ Screenlight with Dial is one of those buy-for-life purchases and knowing that LED bulbs last a long time these days gives me peace of mind. Highly recommended. By the way, my workplace is a small desk from IKEA. , only 29" wide, with a 30" monitor and a 24" monitor on the side monitor arm. For such a small space, light was the perfect solution.
