Hippo Sak bags are good for durability but lose points due to complaints about their environmental benefits. I have previously tried the "Vegetable" version which I found to be sugar cane resin which is "biodegradable" but not compostable like some other "green" trash bags. Biodegradability means the bags only break down into smaller pieces under ideal light, heat and humidity conditions. Most biodegradable bags that end up in landfills remain intact indefinitely. My main gripe is their packaging for oil-based (ie 100% plastic) and so-called 20% "ocean" (NOT sea-reclaimed!) bags. The plastic looks almost identical to their plant-based version. The same blue and white coloring and marking and names will NOT help the consumer make the right choice. Plastic bags) are the best choice. Come on Hippo Sak! Clean up your packaging and stop pretending that the eco-credit is an almost pointless action on your part! Oceanbound is marketing nonsense, nothing more!
