I've been buying PTZs in this form factor for about 4 years since they came out in 720p. So when I see an updated version, I usually buy new ones to update them. On a note. I still can't understand why there isn't a 4K version of this camera. Round cameras already use many available 4K sensors, but they just haven't found a use in this form factor. At least no less than those crazy $5,000 models from Panasonic. But I digress. Image quality here is a decent upgrade over the 2MP model, but I was disappointed to find they can't be POE powered. To be fair the description doesn't say this will happen but I don't see why they wouldn't introduce support as this is becoming such a standard in the security camera industry. Another nice update for this model is the FOV (Field of View). The old models were 90 degrees and this new model is 120 degrees. The big difference is how much you can see at any given time. Very beautiful! Setup went very smoothly this time and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the camera automatically assigned an IP address in my non-standard 10.xxx range. In the past most of these cameras (not just Amcrest) were always numbered 192.xxx by default and you had to spend some time in their configuration interface to get them working. So this was a long awaited feature! All in all a very good upgrade and worth the price!
