Type of review

The Amcrest IP4M-1051B is a high quality camera that works very well with Blue Iris or the Amcrest standalone app and web interface. Day and night vision provide excellent video quality. In addition, the PTZ control works well. By the way, the camera is easy to set up. I ordered a second device after installing the first one.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I love the wide viewing angle of 120 degrees

I had an older model with only a 90 degree field of view (IB3M-941) and loved this camera. It's almost the same, only with a higher resolution and wider camera angle. The 120 degree angle allows me to put it in a corner and look wall to wall and cover the whole room (except right under the camera of course). The night vision distance is accurate. Install this on a Synology NAS with a surveillance station and it works great, easy setup and videos work great.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Works great as advertised.

Camera setup on Android phones (4 of them) was very quick and easy. The assembly took 2-3 minutes in total. However, the desktop camera setup was very different. Instructions and software left a lot to be desired. It took about an hour to figure it out. I had to refer to forums on the internet to make it work properly. After setup it works great. For 4 phones and a PC (later two tablets), I am very happy with the purchase and the price ($99).

Pros
  • Sturdy surface
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Great camera, easy to use

I bought this camera for my business to use as a security camera. I have two other Amcrest cameras, both IMP3. This one seems to be better with its responsiveness as well as a sharper image. Recently my internet switched to a frequency other than the usual 2.4 or 5 GHz and my other two cameras were unable to transmit data on it. However, this one still works with this new network, which saves me. The mic picks up sound well, but the speaker (speaking from my phone to the camera) isn't very loud

Nice upgrade for a solid compact PTZ

I've been buying PTZs in this form factor for about 4 years since they came out in 720p. So when I see an updated version, I usually buy new ones to update them. On a note. I still can't understand why there isn't a 4K version of this camera. Round cameras already use many available 4K sensors, but they just haven't found a use in this form factor. At least no less than those crazy $5,000 models from Panasonic. But I digress. Image quality here is a decent upgrade over the 2MP model, but I was…

Diamond in the Rough

This is my eighth Amcrest camera and despite its flaws I keep buying it because it's the best of so many miserable options on the market. I like them for video quality, cost, hardware reliability and open architecture that allows me to save FTP, NAS, local SD card, time intervals, email alerts and save as much as I want, where I want ( Google Drive, OneDrive, my server , website) with no monthly fees for the rest of eternity like nest, battery swap or base station purchase like the others. Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

A business-class camera at a consumer-class price

From this camera you can expect a long list of features that a typical good IP camera has - video in different resolutions, mirror/mirror conversion, two-way audio, pan/tilt, alarms, including motion /audio/tampering detection, SD card, all kinds of network and system configurations... I doubt you'll find a common IP camera feature that this camera lacks. I want to focus on what sets this enterprise-class camera apart from the usual low-cost, consumer-class IP cameras. This is not my first IP…

  • Gotcha!
