Much more compact than the old one I replaced, used a large lead acid battery and the bulbs didn't last long. I just plugged in the red wire and didn't use it. Plugged in, built into the wallbox and connected the battery connector once the power was on. The small white battery connector plugs into the socket on the lower left front corner when the hazard lights are facing you. Two 'EXIT' panels are included as they can also be fixed to the ceiling and you can remove the back panel, snap the 'EXIT' panels into place to replace and you can view them from either side. The red LEDs inside that illuminate it are adequate, and pressing the test button turns on the hazard lights, which also seem adequate. Saves energy compared to old replacement signs.
