I've been soldering XLR connectors for over 30 years so I can get it done quickly and efficiently. If you're not that good at it, you'll probably melt them down. I messed up the first one (Daddy) as the pins melted the plastic and then cooled it so it wasn't straight anymore. I used the woman to keep the alignment a few more times (and worked quickly and sloppily). The plastic has too low a melting point and the aluminum pins/shells transfer the heat from the soldering iron immediately. But other than that these jacks are easy to use, snap in tight and are very black (I chose them to make a custom cable for the stage). The pins and shells are all aluminum, so they're not intended for mission-critical audio applications. But they are super cheap. Just be careful with the heat.
