Foreword: I am a mechanical engineer and experienced carpenter. I bought this for the price of a trim box rather than making my own and was very disappointed for the following reasons. First off, it arrived as pictured with a broken hinge and a crumpled corner. Both were visible through the plastic. The corner is probably from damage in transit because the box it was shipped in didn't have spacers between the wood and cardboard so a typical UPS impact likely damaged it. The broken finger joint suture was poorly done and had to be found by one of the multiple parties before shipping as it was clearly visible through the plastic wrap. The baffles below are very loose and only have one slot. Place them for everyone. You can remove them to increase disk space, but you cannot resize disk space by placing partitions elsewhere. It would have been easy to cut out lots of slits to allow full customization, but they decided against it. The top tray comes off with two tiny loops of fabric nailed at the ends. The range they pull is so narrow that tipping over is almost inevitable. The long baffle in the top shelf slides out easily so grabbing like a grip (instinctively) keeps the baffle in your hand. This means that the upper tray can be removed automatically with two hands. The bottom is only glued on, not recessed. Therefore, if you put heavy objects on it or hit it several times, there is a high probability that the glued seam will come off and the bottom will fall off. When I take this to my shop to have all the damage and bad design repaired, rather than wasting my life and miles on a return, I intend to glue the top baffle in place, put friction material on it in the middle and remove the pointless stuff "handles" at the end and use for the tray's eject handle. Read the comments carefully. 5 stars praise it without details, low ones criticize the quality. Averages are mostly in the sense of "this is better than I expected for the price", which means that they are still not satisfactory. Why aren't they merged?
