Good tablet for the price, with the right expectations

My 7 year old Nexus 7 with 16GB memory is already outdated (decreased battery life, limited memory, slow) so I was looking for a modern replacement. The Nexus was quite expensive for its time and I haven't found anything that compares. But I took a chance on this budget tablet with some of the same specs. My grandkids and I have been using the tablet for about three weeks, so I'm giving my opinion. I understand that this is a cheap tablet and comparing it to my Nexus 7 isn't entirely accurate, but I have it for comparison. Pros: Price Size: I like the 7 inch size. Lies comfortably in the hand. Even slightly smaller than the Nexus with the same screen size. The 1920 x 1200 resolution HD display is gorgeous and on par with the Nexus. Storage - 32GB is a step up for me, plus an SD card option (which I don't have). Tries). USB-C - Much better than Micro-USB with its difficulty in alignment and insertion. Android - version 10 (Go version, for lighter tablets), with limited bloatware. Cons: The body is hard plastic, not very comfortable to grip or place on a table without slipping. Battery - YouTube videos lasted just over 4 hours compared to 7 on my aging Nexus. No Compass - I was disappointed that my SkyMap app didn't work. oriented towards directions. Slow - almost as sluggish as my Nexus loading and navigating some apps. Audio is definitely a step down from the Nexus. t absent compared to Nexus. Weak display - Although the display is sharp, it looks pretty washed out compared to the Nexus. I changed the setting to make the colors more vibrant which helped. Scratch. The display surface is very susceptible to scratches. It's not that important when looking at the display, but it's pretty noticeable on a blank surface. So I think it's a very solid tablet for what it can do at such a low price. But expectations should be set accordingly.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
