Keeps people honest in public places

This is a nice little chain lock for certain situations. I agree that if a sack of dirt cut the chain, it would be useless. I'm sure your bike will be gone in 30 seconds or less. However, I ride on bike lanes and other public places where there are a lot of people. So it's perfect to lock your bike when you go to the store or in a public place where there are many people. In a public place where people see a guy trying to cut the chain to steal your bike, it will definitely stop those slightly dishonest characters from escaping on your bike. The chain is light and compact, so the Fort Knox lock does not hang off the bike while riding. Btw I recently had a really nice bike and used one of those super duper u-locks that guarantee they will replace your bike (anti-theft) if it gets stolen with the lock locked. I temporarily attached mine to my car's bumper (I removed it from the luggage rack). When I got out a few minutes later, the Super U lock was broken and my bike was gone. Damned. Hey wait - the price of the bike can be replaced with an anti-theft guarantee. So I called the company, told them what happened and they said the anti-theft warranty does not apply if the bike was locked to a moving object. But the lock itself was broken as I explained, it had absolutely nothing to do with it being nailed to the bumper of my car. Sorry Boob - a moving object. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Some protection against theft. So. Either way, unless you're parking in an area where a bastard can go 30 seconds without being seen while stealing your bike, this is a nice little chain lock to keep people honest with you.

Pros
  • Bike Locks
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
