The flap seal for this toilet is made of silicone and appears to form air bubbles which in turn create leaks causing a small leak which causes the fill valve to turn on - - ghost flush. The US standard states that you should only use their substitute seals, since "same as" doesn't work. The reviews show that the life of a new gasket is unlimited - from a few months to several years - regardless of where you bought it. AS replaces the seal if you have proof of purchase. There are many reviews describing how to replace a filling as there are no instructions at all for this filling. I suggest looking for lots of how-to videos on YouTube. It's not very easy as the work of loosening the top handle slightly limits the ability to hold securely to unscrew the top. The next tricky part is holding the float together when replacing the top nut. Smaller hands are better. I hope for at least two years!
