Review on Weighted Idea Blanket Cotton Animal by Juan Lukas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought seven of these!

Last year (2018) I bought Harry and David gift baskets for my Tech Recruiting team as Christmas gifts and everyone loved them. I wanted to do something different for the team in 2019. While wandering around Costco a few weeks ago, I saw a weighted blanket for sale. I didn't buy it, but the idea of the weighted blankets stayed with me for the next two weeks. Then it hit me. Weighted blankets would be the perfect Christmas present for my team this year! They are interesting, unique, useful, unexpected and something they could have for a very long time. So I hopped on Revain and looked for affordable, high-priced weighted blankets. That's when I came across The Weighted Blanket with an idea. They were different colors but 60x80 in size. The dark gray £15 blanket was the cheapest ($43.99 each). So I bought five of these, chose the gift wrap option for an additional $5, and they went to my team members in Dallas, New York, Boston, and Atlanta with 2-day delivery. Over the next few days, as my recruiters received their surprise blankets, I began receiving messages from each of them saying how much they always wanted a weighted blanket and how much they loved the gifts. Considering how happy they were with the duvets, I decided to buy two more. One for me and one for my wife. Only seven blankets! I'm 5ft 10" and 220lbs so I bought a gray 20lb comforter. My wife is 5'3" and weighs 135-145 pounds depending on how much she walks, so I bought her a 15 pound blanket with white and yellow flowers. It was slightly more expensive at $63.99. So what do I think of the duvet? Make no mistake, a 20 pound blanket is heavy! I weighed him on the scale and he weighed 20.3 pounds. The 15-pound version isn't light either. You can carry them around, but it certainly takes some effort. Last night I slept on our bed with mine over the covers and I could barely move my legs and body but I was fine. When I woke up in the morning, it was even harder to move my legs and body. My muscles probably relaxed during the night and the blanket became even heavier. I wouldn't recommend a 20 pound blanket for a woman. I just think it would be too heavy. I don't have anxiety, depression, or any of the other mental health issues that weighted blankets are said to help. But I don't sleep well at night. I slept well the first night with a duvet. I need to do more testing to properly rate its use as a sleep aid. As for the quality. Seams are great. There are no loose pearls. No foreign smells. The cotton material makes a hard-wearing impression. And the gray color is pleasant and manly. The white version with yellow flowers is very pretty and my wife likes it very much. I fully endorse this blanket. Based on first impressions of this $43 blanket ($63 for my wife's blanket), I don't know why anyone would pay $150-200 for a weighted blanket. I think some people prefer plush or fluffy blankets, but not this one. But is a fluffy weighted blanket worth the extra $100 or more? Well it's up to you. See my attached photos.
