I bought this bulb because the 100w version doesn't produce much light but this one is slightly better. It's longer; almost pear shaped and thought it would spread more light than a 100 watt squatter. I have a large zinc pendant light and it was hard on the eyes to sit under it. I came across these half lightbulbs as a possible answer. I'd give the bulb a 5 for keeping people below away from the bulb's light, but I'd also give it a 1 for the very little usable light (reflecting off the top inside the pendant). They may be better suited to fixtures that are open at both ends. Maybe I could paint the inner top half of the pendant white or silver to increase the amount of light reflected, but that would change the look of the light forever. Most likely, these lamps are not used because of this problem. Instead I will try to create a diffuser to reduce glare but still have useful light!
