I bought this camera 6 weeks ago after spending a year researching the digital camera market. Having used my Canon EOS E2 for the past four years, I had to make some adjustments to get used to some of the features and smaller size of this digital camera. I have already used it in several situations and I am very satisfied with my purchase. First, it's good. The camera itself is small enough to fit in a purse but sturdy enough to hold securely. The LCD is HUGE and very clear, allowing you to actually view the photos that are taken. Overall, the camera setup is very user-friendly, and I particularly like the function button and jog dial. I've found that with this new generation, the response time has improved a lot and it doesn't take forever to turn it on or off. It also does a great job of quickly capturing to move on to the next frame. The AV-out is a nice bonus for an entry-level mid-range camera, as well as a useful feature for showing people your photos right away or sharing photos with everyone after a day of sightseeing. One of my favorite options is auto bracketing, which can be set for both shutter speed and aperture. Bracketing is really needed due to some issues with the auto exposure metering, which leads me to believe it's not very good. The problem with auto metering is that it overexposes almost everything except on sunny days when it works best. Beware of those overcast, overcast days. Also, shutter speeds in full auto mode (including flash) tend to be a bit slow, making them appear too blurry at times. The manual focus feature is confusing and quite difficult to use, especially if you're used to traditional SLR manual focus. Multi-Burst mode has some focusing issues, so be careful when using it, especially at high speed settings. I used it in an MLB game and the wider shots for the base runners weren't good, but the tight shots from the pitchers in their groovy games were really impressive. I have yet to use film, stabilized cameras, and organizing camera functions. Other reviewers made a few comments about the stabilized camera function not taking good pictures. You just have to be prepared to use the manual features more often than the automatic ones. Crate. I found that the photos posted here by other users are photos that anyone with some knowledge and patience can take.
