Love this item very much. It goes perfectly with my leather chair and is almost perfect in color (in a slightly darkened room, they look like they were made for each other). In my opinion, unless you have an elevated platform, a lounge chair is not very comfortable. lean on your feet. This ottoman serves that purpose admirably. If you want to sit on this piece, I'll say it's soft enough to be comfortable, but don't expect really deep cushioning. The lid, while strong, is too thin to offer this level of padding. I often use it as a chair as it is easy to move around the room. For example, if someone wants to show me a YouTube video, I just drag and drop the ottoman onto the computer. I am also more satisfied than expected with the internal storage of the stool. Even though I keep a few pairs of shoes in, I really like that I can throw in my lying around junk (socks, other underwear) in case an unexpected guest comes by. Btw, my cat loves this thing too, so I can only use it when he's not sleeping on it!
