Review on Syba SY MRA55006 Mobile Extra Black by Sean Zamora

Nice, very, very cute

I've been using a Kingwin KF-255-BK for the past year and I really want a Syba SY-MRA55006 instead. Well, I finally got it, and the best I can say about it is "Good, very, very good". For starters, the mounting bracket was long enough to fit the HP 8300 SFF drive bay without having to hot glue the back panel like I did with the Kingwin unit. The actuators are then completely INSIDE the unit when the doors are closed. The Kingwin division lets them hang in front. Next, the 2.5-inch drive bay matches the look of the StarTech HSB220SAT25B drive bays that I installed underneath. Appearance may not be of the utmost importance, but it certainly is. Finally I now have two USB3.1 (10Gb/s) ports on the front of my computer. In order for this thing to actually work, I had to pair it with a few extra PCIe cards. First, the secondary SATA ports on the HP 8300 motherboard only have a bandwidth of 3 GB/s. So I deployed a Crest SY-PEX40039 PCIe-X1 Sata II IO card with dual 6Gb/s ports. I then added a Silverstone ECU04-E USB3.1 PCIe-X2 card to control the front USB ports. Everything works like clockwork. My only complaint is that the internal USB cable is long enough to reach the deepest crevice of the Revane rainforest. I have two cable loops inside the case for cable management.
