Works to the point of crashing, sometimes poorly with UEFI/BIOS

2018. So expect maybe 3 years from one of these. I haven't abused it, I've actually used it I've repaired a lot of PCs and used it to replace hard drives to get info, partitions, formatting, etc. Trying to boot from this thing, occasionally at first, then more often, weekdays I couldn't boot without one similar error popped up more than once.I spent a day trying to figure it out because one of the causes of this problem is a bad connector/cable, and my cables were fine. Then a thought occurred…

Pros
  • Built-in 19-pin USB 3.0 (24")
Cons
  • sad packaging

Nice, very, very cute

I've been using a Kingwin KF-255-BK for the past year and I really want a Syba SY-MRA55006 instead. Well, I finally got it, and the best I can say about it is "Good, very, very good". For starters, the mounting bracket was long enough to fit the HP 8300 SFF drive bay without having to hot glue the back panel like I did with the Kingwin unit. The actuators are then completely INSIDE the unit when the doors are closed. The Kingwin division lets them hang in front. Next, the 2.5-inch drive bay…

Pros
  • Installing and removing HDD/SSD without tools
Cons
  • Speed

I bought mine at 123 and they arrived pretty quickly. I have a server that runs 24/7 and needed these inserts for a media project I'm working on. We will have laptops with video recording while we are on expeditions around the country. Such a device makes data transfer much faster, so I ordered 2. I had to work to make them fit as I have an Aspire Qpack case. For this case I had to buy an "SFX" power supply, but that's the limit of the case itself. I expect it will be fine in most cases. Pros…

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Best Dock Design

This is the most useful computer accessory I've bought in a long time. I've used eSATA docking stations for years, both for retrieving data from other computers' drives and for my own emergency preparedness. This is a big improvement over the dock concept. My system has a ZFS mirror with three drives; A drive is now in this dock instead of the external dock. In an emergency (e.g. earthquake) I can just pull out the disc and go. It's better than an external dusty dock and drive, plus it doesn't…

Pros
  • Only Positive
Cons
  • Long Time

Works to death, sometimes works badly with UEFI/BIOS

I bought this in June 2015, it failed completely in May 2018. So expect maybe 3 years from one of these. I didn't abuse, I enjoyed. I've repaired many PCs, using them to replace hard drives for info retrieval, partitioning, formatting, etc. The two extra USB slots came in handy once or twice. Eventually I started getting 0xc000000f and various other errors from every drive that tried to boot from this thing, intermittently at first, then more frequently. For a week I couldn't boot without this…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of fashion
