Works to the point of crashing, sometimes poorly with UEFI/BIOS

2018. So expect maybe 3 years from one of these. I haven't abused it, I've actually used it I've repaired a lot of PCs and used it to replace hard drives to get info, partitions, formatting, etc. Trying to boot from this thing, occasionally at first, then more often, weekdays I couldn't boot without one similar error popped up more than once.I spent a day trying to figure it out because one of the causes of this problem is a bad connector/cable, and my cables were fine. Then a thought occurred to me: it was the hot swap bay between the sata cable and the drive itself so i pulled out the drive and plugged it straight into the motherboard and it was just great does what you expect until it dies this could be the g be round why i also have some "ghost" issues in my bios like my samsung 850EVO being recognized as a 1TB WD drive in UEFI (still boots fine) and too many other little weird things, to list them. I've had numerous inexplicable micropartitions over the past year before getting 0xc000000f issues, even on Gparted. Even when the bay was new, it had trouble seeing both drives in the bay on several occasions, sometimes just one. In the end, I really appreciate how much easier it was to fix PCs in the past, but it's not worth the heartache. in small things, the host computer has been causing it for many years. I'll end this review by saying that if you're changing a lot of hard drives, you'll save a lot of time by disassembling cases and connecting hard drives for simple formats or extracting data if you do it enough. If you only do something like this a few times in the next few years, I would suggest skipping the hot-swap bay, that's a very tricky part and increases the chance of a failure somewhere in your PC, unlike SATA cables cheaper and more reliable. .

Pros
  • Built-in 19-pin USB 3.0 (24")
