First of all I would like to say that I have never activated the quick search in an emergency. I tested it and it worked great. Actually, I now have both ACR and Fast Find. Wife took the ACR for our 21 foot whaler. I recently bought a Fast Find for my small sailboat. I often go to sea alone and tie my Fast Find to my harness. I like Fast Find more than ACR for one simple reason - it's smaller. If I go overboard I want my outfit to be on me and not in my backpack. The fact that it comes with a neoprene holder/float is a nice bonus. Size 4.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches with neoprene mount. The antenna outside is not wrapped, it is good tight packaging. It fits in one of those dry iPhone cases. I slip it into one of them and keep it in a small dry pouch that attaches to my belt. Yes, it's waterproof, but why get it wet when you don't need to? The same goes for my VHF. I have a waterproof VHF but I keep it in a waterproof case. I can run all the controls through the stuff sack. Protect your emergency equipment. Salt water destroys electronics - period.
