First of all: Despite the lack of RSS support, this little box is quite capable of transferring data at 1 Gbps, at least with an average packet size. However, this ethernet chip has two main driver problems: 1. The official r8168 driver limits the RX throughput to around 570 Mbps for some reason (the CPU usage was nowhere near full). TX throughput is ok.2. The Linux built-in driver in the 5.x kernel is very unstable, which causes the TX queue to hang. The first problem seems to be common with pfsense/opensense and with Linux users replacing the r8169 driver with the official r8168 driver. I uploaded two screenshots to compare these two drivers and the results are clear. Some reviews complain about the download speed limit, I think that's the reason. So if you want to install pfsense/opensense on this machine, be aware that you won't be able to get the full gigabit speed. built in linux driver, had no problems with kernel 4.1x. The simplest solution is to downgrade the kernel version.
