Review on Upgrade Your Honda Civic With 10.1" HD Touchscreen Android Car Stereo - WiFi, GPS, Mirror Link, Backup Camera And More! by Alan Sawyer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works alright, bad fit, horrible directions

This product is alright, I'm not super happy with it but it does kind of work. It's essentially an android tablet with apps installed to make it pretend to be a radio. I bought this solely to put android auto in, preferably wireless, and to retain my steering wheel controls.Note that a lot of the problems below could be due to the lack of instructions/manuals. It shows a generic mounting, not even specific to this product, and then says to use the harness. I used my existing harness and just spliced the old harness to the new power connector, as for some reason this set uses square pins compared to the normal round pins on the radio harness. I was replacing another aftermarket radio with this, so i already had some custom wiring done (axxess module for swc, blue amp wire tied in, etc) which likely complicated things.Good:Screen is nice and responsive, relatively intuitive to use once you figure it out. I wish the volume up/down buttons were easy to click, or even if there was a knob. It looks good in the car though, like it was always supposed to be there. Has good adjustment features for the volume, but no bass that'd i've found. I need to see if my amp lets me adjust it manually, as its very bass-heavy with the "HI-FI" on.Bad:Wireless android auto DOES NOT work. I think this is because android phones got rid of the android auto app, and its an "automatic" thing now through bluetooth - but the bluetooth on this doesn't recognize it as a car, more as a speaker, and it won't work. Still trying to find a solution to this before I buy a wired-to-wireless module. The wired android auto does work well though. The bezel does not fit, and as others have stated there is no cutout for the airbag switch. I tucked mine under the small vent-like shape on the bottom left. The bezel either fits in the top, or the bottom, but not both. So I have a small 3/8" gap in mine along the base. Not crazy noticeable, more annoying than anything. It also does not have a large enough cut out for the vent, so most of the vent blows behind the screen. Seems fine for the summer, it'll give the unit "free cooling" but curious on heat management for the winter. Seems like they should include a plastic deflector piece to act as the new-side of the vent. The color is slightly off as well, more of a "blue gray" than the "dark gray" of the other panels. Not enough to care but enough to notice. One of the USB's just doesn't work. It will not clip into the pinned connector on the back of the radio, the plastic surround is too close to where the clip would hold. Again, not terrible as I only really need one usb but its annoying to have a feature that doesn't work.Stering wheel controls were a pain to figure out- there's a settings menu that you can scroll in, it just doesn't look like it scrolls. Once you find that its nice and intuitive. If I find a fix for the wireless android auto I'll update my review with how to make it work. For now, I'm happy with its functionality. Wish the fit was better and wireless worked but not the end of the world.

2011 civic: I was a little worried when I saw the "instructions" but it was a pretty straight forward install. Watch a you tube video on taking the old dash out. I do wish there were some more options as far as screens and layouts and stuff. Overall a solid 4.5 out of 5.
