I bought Harmon Kardon Onyx, JBL Charge 3, JBL xtreme and Sony srs-xb3 to compare side by side. Harmon Kardon hit them all with the sound. GREAT sound for the price. The only other speaker I considered is the Harmon Kardon Go + Play, but it costs $400 and takes up a lot of space, making it harder to find a spot for it, say, on a bathroom counter. I was looking for something to put anywhere in my house at a great price with great sound. The most important thing for me was the sound quality. On a battery lasts about 5 hours. The sound quality in battery mode is also excellent. When plugged in, it's louder and has a bit more bass. I wouldn't take it to the beach, the JBL Charge 3 is probably better suited for that because it's waterproof. But the sound of JBL Charge 3 wasn't that clear, rather dull. The same with extreme. I highly recommend the Harmon Kardon for home and patio use. Wonderful! White looks really cool too!
