Review on Audio-Technica AT8459 Swivel-Mount Microphone Clamp Adapter: A Versatile and Sturdy Solution for Precise Microphone Positioning by Chris Durandis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Has been put to the test!

We made a custom mic stand for a Seattle rockabilly band. We needed this XLR cable holder to remove the Shure 55 Fatboy mic. The overall design of the dual swing clamp is really good. The hard black anodizing process applied to the device is excellent and will hold up well. The only downside, and I mean ONLY one downside, is the wing nut. You'll find that confident people who unscrew the wing nut will be a bit reluctant. The wing nut handle is plastic and will flex slightly when you try to tighten it firmly. It has to be metal. Because you can't be sure of tightening it, the mic may slip. If we need another one I will buy it again but will most likely make a metal wing nut to replace the plastic nut that came with it.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Good But Not Great
