The product description says that there are 16 pockets. I only used 6 large pockets and 2 small pen pockets. I found 1 tiny pocket hidden between the larger pockets which I thought were useless and the rest should be very well hidden. I couldn't find her. My pens kept falling out of their designated pockets. I tried to put my Kindle in the large inside pocket, but the vest sagged because it was too heavy. However, I like the 6 large pockets, which was enough for things I usually put in my purse. A very large pocket came in handy for documents. I liked the right side pocket for a passport, although I didn't use the "protective" pocket inside. The other 4 large pockets I used for medicine and other things I needed during the flight. I recently flew on an airline that only allowed ONE carry-on bag, be it a wallet, laptop bag or one size suitcase. The vest solved this problem for me as the vest acted as a wallet. I look like I have a big belly, but I was able to spread the contents all over my torso without looking too bad. During takeoff and landing, you must stow all your belongings in the overhead lockers. You still have easy access to everything you need during the flight (in the vest on the body). As for sizes, I usually wear a medium size, but I ordered a large. The plus size was perfect, especially since I wore the vest over a sweatshirt and a fleece jacket. The vest is not perfect but it is the best travel vest I have found. I am happy with this purchase.
