I can tell you that I have a box full of collars. From automatic to those with remote control. None compares to this collar. I have a Standard Poodle that is 2 years old. He rarely barked until we started letting stray cats run around. It took a few times before he got his attention, but no more barking. I would advise you to watch the instructions on YouTube. The instructions are a bit complicated. You can only change numbers in a user-selected mode. Temperament and progressives are set automatically. I use Temperament mode. I noticed that the number shows 3 instead of 1 in this setting. I have found that the collar is adjusted to match the dogs barking. Does he need more or less all cars. The collar is of very good quality. The only downside is the plastic collar which I don't like. I replaced it with one of the fabric clips I have with a plastic clip. I highly recommend this collar. TO UPDATE. After using this, I find what looks like scabs or maybe warts under my neighbor's dog. He has several places. After a visit to the vet, he has an allergic reaction to nickel on the contact points of a metal container. I was live chatting with a smart dog and the rep said there is a certain amount of Nishel in the touchpoints. So I have another promotional collar in my collection. The rep changed the collar to a citronella collar but wasn't sure if it would fit my dog or not. So far I haven't been able to see his reaction from the courtyard. Also, the citronella collar has cartridges that need to be replaced, which can get expensive. Will be updated later when the replacement collar works but doesn't require a cartridge cost. The rating has been changed to a 2 but I appreciate the replacement. I saw other reviews about Nishel allergen here. Why would Smartdog make such an expensive collar and not use stainless steel? ?
