I used the 9007 version on a 2003 F150. What you need to do is follow step 1 of the H4/H7 guide and then secure the bushing to the body using an old retaining ring or a new one purchased separately. You can then insert the bulb into the socket in any orientation. There is a spring loaded steel ball with detents for up/down and left/right movement. As far as I can tell the LEDs themselves should be pointing left and right with the wires coming out of the fan and going down. You can feel the latch. I personally prefer protection from idiots. On the other hand, it allows the user to customize the installation if they wish.
