I am happy with the step stool. It folds up and fits into the space in my kitchen so it doesn't stand out. I can now use it to reach my upper cabinets without stepping on a chair (15 1/2" instead of 18"). It's still a big step for me as an older woman, but I can do it. It unfolds very easily - I was inattentive the first time and caught my fingers in the stepped crease. These are my only complaints and I don't think they are to blame for the steps, but I deducted a star anyway.
