Review on CURT 58992 Custom Towed Vehicle Harness by Michael Persing

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Will not work with external Bronco cans - hope this gets done right for me

. This is fairly easy to install on our external Bronco cans. I think the directions were for the Bronco Sport, but the resemblance was close enough to get the gist. It's definitely a well made product and if it was out of the box in my app it would be 5 stars. The problem is that our truck has parking lights instead of brake lights. With navigation lights, only the side markers are illuminated. I do not know the same problem with other models. External banks may have different wiring than others that do not have LED indicators. However, Curt's website states that this harness is only suitable for LED. Update March 25, 2021: I spoke to Curt's tech support and they say that this is an issue with Broncos that have incandescent (non-LED) taillights and that the product is not suitable for LED. I walked him back and forth on the Outer Bank with LED taillights. He said the only way to find out was to look at her. I've been trying to explain that I can't understand why the Outer Banks that say they have an (upgraded) LED taillight have a bulb where the standard lights were LED. I think almost everyone would agree that LEDs are an upgrade. He said this suspension will work on a 2021 Bronco (non-sport) with LED headlights, but the problem I'm describing is exactly what happens when the headlights are incandescent. I'm waiting for my wife to come home with the truck tonight to confirm, but if I have lightbulbs, then the Ford stuff is bogus on the truck they're selling and building, and Kurt has Right or Kurt is wrong, and this harness only works with incandescent bulbs, not LEDs. I'm working with Kurt to sort this out, but one thing's for sure, the compatibility info on the Revain is wrong because it doesn't ask at all what trim the truck has or what taillights it has. If you are considering this part for the 2021 Ford Bronco Outer Banks, I recommend that you either wait until I update it next week (late March 2021) or work with Kurt to confirm that it works in your application . I assume they will insist that you visually confirm your vehicle's headlight type before proceeding. I'm hoping I just have a miswired part and they can tell me how to fix it or send me a solution that doesn't require me to re-route the entire wiring harness.

Pros
  • STANDARD FIT. This wiring harness makes it easier to tow the car behind the motorhome and allows the car's rear lights to be connected to the motorhome's electrical system. It plugs into the original equipment connectors and is a standard 4 flat
Cons
  • . No mold required.
