I bought this for Betta, I love it and so does my Betta, she can breathe easily and loves the lap. I add live plants and small yellow milkweed to the base of the filter and then black smooth stones to the stones that come with the ceramic medium. I use purified water from my 32 gallon reservoir that I have for my discus tank. I'm sure you could use the water conditioner and Beneficial Bacteria liquid that comes with the reservoir. The fish are doing very well and the water is being tested! It looks beautiful and is slightly different from a regular tank. This will be for a fish. (I have a black band on top to keep the light reflection soft)
