A very good alternative to other ultra wide angle lenses on the DX market and definitely better than what Nikon offers. It's built fairly well, but not too heavy, with a premium feel. The optics are also very good and if used correctly there will be no problems. The lens range is also more practical than the earlier 11-16, and the f2.8 aperture is a nice bonus. Cons: There are some autofocus issues. You need to play with it properly before using it to understand it. For example, I've found that using external AF points can cause focus errors. The solution is to use the center point and recompose it. Then no errors. The 82mm filter size is also a downside, but you're not really going to use too many filters with this lens. So just buy a cheap (but perfect) Amazon Basics clear filter for protection and forget about it. You have to use a lens to understand the characteristics of an ultra wide angle lens, but it takes a bit of experience. Actually that's all. The only other issue I have is that there isn't a dedicated lens case for it!
