Cautiously optimistic

It was good. I've never used SharkBite before and this was a temporary fix. I found a lot of information on how to prepare copper tubing without the SharkBite tool. What I didn't find was the feel of how much force is required to seat the whistle. It took me a little more effort than I expected to be able to sit fully, but everything looks fine. There are no leaks, the pipe is set to the correct depth and I can rotate the installation position easily without dripping. ATTENTION. Make sure you have enough movement in the pipe to set this up. You will need about 1 inch of free pipe movement to install on 1/2 inch copper. You don't need lateral forces on the pipe, so bending or stretching the pipes to make room for them is not a good idea. I thought I had enough whistle movement but unfortunately that didn't happen. I had a lot of lateral movement on one side, but only 1/2" linear movement. Luckily I had a choke in my trash can, so I cut a pipe nearby, just installed the shark bite, then soldered the choke and tightened it .If I knew I was going to solder I'd probably just use a solder tee and a check valve.I think I could put a copper tee in there without having to install a fitting. So if you know how to solder do it when things look tense then you don't have to worry about whether SharkBite O-rings really last forever great thread btw my old poppet valve has some green stuff on the inside which restricts flow even more.

Pros

Cons
