After use, storage and cost were the major factors in this purchase. This trunk opens from the top, is watertight and has well-functioning zips (on both sides) with flaps. In fact, this is a gym bag that suitcases are difficult to slide into. So I cut out Styrofoam sheets 2" thick, 18" high, and 36" on each side to frame the inside of the holder (no glue). This gave shape to the device and made it much easier to stack three large boxes side by side. I bought 1" wide ratchet straps and connected them to the handlebars in the car. There was no handle on the driver's side, so I fed a strap into the driver's side door window and connected it to the handle of the LR from the inside. Anti-slip roof cover and taped to the hood to eliminate wind noise. We rode all day in heavy rain and inside stayed dry. I had hard cases which are much more convenient for loading and unloading luggage. However, they are more expensive and take time too much space in the garage.I am happy with my purchase.
