Great radio for little money

There are no limits to equipment spending in amateur radio. I think this TYT is pretty much a replica of the Yeasu FT-9800. You can even use the same programming cable. The programming, while a little whimsical, was fairly easy once I got used to the layout. I mainly use this radio on 2 meters and 70 centimeters because where I am there isn't much going on on 10 meters. antennas I was able to tease almost real 50 watts out of the little guy. The mining gear that the car/truck comes with is pretty basic, so be prepared to find something else when you get yours. The included power cord consisted of 10 AWG fusible bare positive and negative wires. Therefore, you may need to purchase an adapter for your setup. The handheld receiver works pretty well and the audio is pretty good too. No problem. It can probably be used as a cross-range repeater, but I haven't tried it yet.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Doubt
