Review on G-Form Pro X2 Knee Pad (1 Pair) - Advanced Protection for Sports and Activities by Brad Blake

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best Value MTB Knee Pads

So it's time to finally check them out because I had a pretty bad accident. First, my riding style and setup is trail riding - lots of climbs for fast descents. Lots of roots and some rocks, nothing extreme but fast in places. I also ride 2-3 times a week. Here's the story: I recently fell at fairly high speed and ended up spraining my wrist and hitting the ground with my knees. Rating: I didn't even notice the impact on my knees. It wasn't until I was driving that I remembered to check my knees, saw how dirty the pads were and realized how well they worked. If I didn't have these pads my knees (especially my left one) would get scratched as the surface would be hard. I'm very surprised how well it all worked, no bruises, no cuts like it never happened. So I'll give my overall rating below: Comfort: 5/5 - very comfortable, great for pedaling, stays cool and doesn't sweat. Size: 3/5 is the weakest part of them, mainly because the size chart is weird. Increase the size. I'm 6'4" and 175 pounds so I'm skinny and wear a size XL. However, they fit quite well if you go up a size. Size: 4/5 - the top and bottom straps are snug, as they should be. , and the pad area is a little loose.I'm happy with this because it offers some breathability and pedals well. Some people might not like this because the actual pad can basically slide in front of your knee .it's only loose in the knee area which is down to an odd size but it still works well and isn't too loose Material: 4/5 - Can't complain about that, it might not be the prettiest stuff but it works and it looks like g shape prioritizes durability over cool which is fine with me protection: 5/5 is a big deal right? and after a couple of falls like my story above they are excellent heavily padded they do below the knee and nd out to the sides The material of the sleeves also offers excellent protection against snagging Brand: 5/5 consumers should do more often; Only partially research the brand before buying. G-Form is actually quite legal in the upholstery industry, which I didn't know. But the fact that stuffing is their specialty makes it possible to take the plunge and buy one of their products. It's not just a consumer goods company that makes knee pads, it has research and development that allows it to make great knee pads like this one. Value: 5/5 - For the price, I think these are some of the best mountain bike knee pads out there. i can buy I wouldn't spend $100 on knee pads. I usually go for the "cheapest" in each category to get the job done efficiently, and that's what Aesthetics: 3/5 - Let's face it, these aren't the prettiest pads. There's just something about them that doesn't make them as "cool" as other brands. For this reason I put off buying them, but I don't care how they look because they work well. One more thing, I did extensive research on mountain bike pads and didn't plan to. I was planning to just buy a pair of $15 rugs that could also be used for gardening. The more I looked, the more I realized I needed something special for MTB. That's when I realized how expensive MTB pads are. Then I realized how specialized pads are for MTB, enduro, trail, downhill, etc., so I chose Fox enduro pads first. Super cool look but same sizing issue, I ordered a large and they were very tight. They also had issues before I used them so I sent them back for a new pair. This whole process was just annoying and in the end I got my money back and found these G forms. Fox pads are the typical 'cool' good looking option with useful features (like removable protectors) that are more fragile and offer a little less protection (I guess). G-Forms just does the work. The stitching, sleeve material and piping material on them just make sense, whereas with the Fox, while they are very cool and good looking overlays, they just didn't feel like they would hold up over time. Overall: These are SUPER durable trail rubbers, they are definitely enough for the average rider who wants to do some fast descents and hard jumps as well as the rider who wants to improve their handling and have more speed and air. However, you may need extra protection if you're into enduro and downhill. Highly recommend - best value for money mountain bike pads.
